Final Fantasy music tour will touch down in San Francisco

Square Enix composer Uematsu-san will appear at concert timed for Game Developers Conference.

After touring in Japan and Los Angeles last year, and with plans for a performance in Chicago next month, "Dear Friends: Music from Final Fantasy" has an added date on the West Coast.

The concert series will play at Masonic Auditorium in San Francisco on Monday, March 7, the first night of the annual Game Developers Conference, which will take place March 7-11.

Grammy Award-winning conductor Arnie Roth will lead the Symphony Silicon Valley (with full chorus) in a performance of Final Fantasy music by composer Nobuo Uematsu. Uematsu will attend the concert, and he'll meet with VIP ticket holders after the show. GDC attendees will have first crack at premier tickets until January 20; on January 21, tickets go on sale to the general public. Ticket prices range from $45 to $125. The GDC site has additional information on the event.

Uematsu will also deliver an hour-long lecture at the conference on Wednesday, March 9, during which he will discuss the challenges of composing music for games.
