Square Enix trademarks mystery title
Japanese publisher registers "Dawn of Souls" with US patent office, sparking much speculation.
Does Square Enix have an all-new RPG in the works? That is the notion being bandied about in many Final Fantasy forums after the Japanese publisher registered a new title with the US Patent and Trademark Office.
On July 26, Square Enix registered the title "Dawn of Souls" with the USPTO. Besides covering the usual "Computer Game Software" and "Video Game Software" categories, the trademark also extends to DVDs, books, music, comics, magazines, and a wide variety of sundries such as pen cases and mouse pads.
The extensive reach of the Dawn of Souls trademark is what led many to speculate it could be a new game--or franchise--from Square Enix. Unfortunately, speculation is all it is at this point, since Square Enix had not commented on the Dawn of Souls trademark as of press time.
