THQ to acquire Relic Entertainment

THQ today announced that it has entered into a "definitive agreement" to acquire Vancouver-based Relic Entertainment. THQ had previously partnered with the developer through a two-property, multiyear publishing agreement that included Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, which is scheduled for release this fall.

"We are confident that Relic's extremely talented teams of designers, programmers, and artists will solidify THQ's position as a leading publisher of PC and console entertainment."

Further information on the all-cash transaction, which is expected to be completed by May 1, has not been disclosed at this time.
