EA drives off with Burnout 3
Sources confirm that Criterion Studios' racing franchise is no longer parked in Acclaim's garage.
Informed sources confirmed to GameSpot today what had been rumored for several days: Electronic Arts will publish the third Burnout game. The revelation deals a blow to the racing title's original publisher, Acclaim. The Burnout series had been one of the biggest names in Acclaim's shrinking title catalog.
For its part, EA is confirming as little as possible about the title-grab. "Burnout is the working title of a project in EA's London studio," said an EA representative. "Details will be available at a later date. We have nothing further to add."
According to sources, the third Burnout will be released for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube sometime later this year. GameSpot will have more details--like the game's final title--as they become available.
