ROFL. 50+ games going 3D and 5% of gamers own 3d tv's and those awesome, stylish, glasses to go with it. Yeah. Good move there Sony. Instead of this 3D garbage they should have put their R&D dollars/yen into getting better performance from their pathetic console. I mean it's gotten so desparate that they've copied the Wii for crying out loud. PS3HDWii. I mean look at GT5. 5 years of development by a first party developer, ps3hdwii exclusive, and Forza 3 still kicks it. Go read the two reviews on this site for yourself ps3hdwii pink glowing ball on the end of a Wii controller fanboys.

not that amazing, Im waiting for those glassless 3d tv's before I invest, anyone spending money on a 3dtv at the moment is wasting their money, glassless is the future. Plus with nvidia every single game supports 3d on the pc, there doesn't need to be any modifications or extra price incursions.

I'm kinda on the fence with this. I've got 4 LCD tvs' and 1 DLP, and now I may have to buy another one just to take advantage of 3D ?! I was hoping they would make it available for the current lineup of tvs, with some newer tech or something, because I don't know if I can invest in another tv. Then if I do, and they decide to come out with some new tech that simply takes advantage of your current tv I will be kicking myself! So, I'm going to wait and see how this plays out,and maybe in a year or so, I'll step into 3D gaming.I hear it is awesome though and I know my wife wouldn't be able to play it , since she gets sick from the motion , or movement from games like Condemned 2, so 3D will be out of the question for her.

@DenverNick: if they're turned HD I support them but if they're pixelated no way dood.

It's amazing to read how many people don't know the difference between the 3-D they used to have with the crappy reg/blue paper glasses and the active 3-D that's on todays newer 3-D TV's. HUGE difference to say the least. If you haven't seen 3-D recently, go to any decent sized electronics store and go look for yourself. It's the real deal.

@blakeney It's mostly a stereoscopic 3D actually, 2 frames shown from different angles at once.

@TevoxZi Yeah, the "green and blue" is when something is "3D'ised", you could "3d'ise" an old film from the 1920s...... "Real" 3D nowerdays, is when stuff made in 3d, and things actually come out the screen ect...

@veelckoo Perhaps, I thought you were one of those trolls that won't stop the old saying that PS3 has no games and wanted to point out it's the exact opposite around next year. Sorry. You're right, companies think about money, however don't you think that if Sony wanted only to milk people with their 3D - they wouldn't implement 3D onto all the HDTVs later on? Perhaps those that can't wait for the time are going to buy 3DTVs, however they're not forcing them to. It's up to you, do you care about 3D, if so - can you wait or must you have it on PS3 now? The BC removal is annoying, however it doesn't matter to me much as I have a PS2 next to this PC monitor of mine, my 22" while PS3 is connected to 42", I'm not saying it doesn't matter to the general, of course it does. I am buying Collections nevertheless, as it's sometimes difficult to find the previous era games nowaday. For example: I own MGS1-4, but if they'll come up with a collection, I'll probably buy it anyway. I haven't played ICO & Shadow of The Colossus on the PS2, so I'll surely buy the Collection for that matter. Once I get the parts for my gaming rig, most of my gaming will continue back on PC anyway (minus console & PS3-exclusive games on PS3.) The PC is where my roots are from next to Sega Master System and NES anyway.

@TevoxZi - to be honest Microsoft is not better than SONY in exclusives respect. Both of those companies put more effort to milk you on movies, xbox live, and other stupid WII control schemes instead of making a real GAME console. I didn't say XBOX WAS BETTER. I said that SONY didn't give a damn about players and puting 3D in a console is nothing more than trying to sell you another product. AND don't even mention god of war, ICO and SOC remakes - first remove backward compatibility then put some PS2 remakes for PS3 - milking people on recycled material. Good material but recycled material. I'm happy for you that you like your console because i hate mine.

if i had a 3d tv i could play Black Ops now in 3d or at least thats what it says in the options of the game. only problem is that I own Black Ops on 360. seems to me that 3d is more of a software thing than a PS3 thing. I own PS3 also so I'm not biased. The ps update was to allow for 3d MOVIE playback, i thought. But hey Sony helped to make blu-ray #1 so maybe they'll make 3d cool.

@blakeney Incorrect, I've watched a game played on a 3DTV and I did require glasses. However the cinema part is correct.

@blakeney Still, they are pretty expensive (3DTV's) and i'm not all that impressed by 3D movies. I'm fine with 2D things.

@veelckoo 6 games from 6 series. Obviously there's Uncharted 2 - and not only 3 on PS3. I was saying the games coming NEXT YEAR not all the games overall. What does Xbox 360 have for next year as exclusive other than Gears of War 3 and games I can play on my gaming rig (PC.) Please. So you're not going to buy a PS3? Fine, but why should I care, it's your own decision and it's not like I'm here to change it nor even caring enough to. Sorry, I'm the exact opposite of you. Multiplats I'll rather play on PC. Console-exclusives on PS3. (Some multiplats end up getting a little worse on PS3 than on X360, but not a "significant difference" anyway.) PS3 exclusives on PS3 and most "X360 exclusives" I know are also on PC. In example: Left 4 Dead -serie, Fable 3, Splinter Cell Conviction, Metro 2033, etc.. Sorry to burst your bubble, I just don't care. It's my own opinion, but I don't feel like paying 300 bucks for a system that has Halo - which doesn't interest me a bit, Gears of War - same problem as well as Alan Wake, which does interest me. I'm sorry that I acted like a *censor-sound* just now, just felt like doing the same. and how am I sure? Because 3D has been there before without 3DTVs, 3D doesn't REQUIRE a 3DTV. To not know this you must have not played Sega Master System / NES nor PC games often. Now that Mass Effect 2 is coming on PS3 as well, I'm saying the tables have turned a little from 2008.

@veelckoo Ofcourse you can have 3d without a 3dtv, you think all cinemas had 3d screens installed to show 3d movies? The difference is, on a 3dtv you dont need glasses, on a normal tv you do, and the "3D" is just a "3D'ised" version of the normal image. (opposed to the "full 3D" you get when a game has ben made in 3d.

@L0newolf___DSH You must live somewhere nice (in the countryside) i thought there was a tesco in every sqaure mile of uk by now :P there is in my area! And i dont think you can even go and buy a normal tv for under £100 can ya? You can get a 28" - 32" for around 199-300 nowerdays. Ebay will proberly have some for under £100 though. Also i know what you mean with the lack of funds down to the amount you get on jsa.... you should have a "sideline" too for the time you're on there:P

@TevoxZi Youre right about waiting for games. So far it was like Little Big Planet, Uncharted(s), Killzone and Resistance - that was 6 exclusive titles worth buying for the platform in like what 3 years? And how do you know that you will get 3D without 3DTV if they are just "working on implementing" that function. Call me old fashioned but untill that happens i'm very sceptical. You are right in "don't like it don't buy it" too. I bought PS one and PS2 on launch but i wont buy PS3. I'm borrowing it from friend to see some exclusive titles but so far PS 3 is for me a big letdown games wise. Your mileage may vary.

@veelckoo I disagree with so many parts in your comment. Especially the games part, maybe it's just me, but I know I'm waiting for quite a bit of games next year: Killzone 3, InFAMOUS 2, Uncharted 3, Resistance 3 (Possibly not coming next year though), Mass Effect 2, LittleBIGPlanet 2, ICO & Shadow of the Colossus pack. I know I'll get 3-D without a 3DTV and they even said that they're working on implementing 3D onto normal HDTVs, so before you're saying they're "milking people." Please, they're not even forcing you to buy their products. Don't like it? Don't buy it.

At the beginning they sold PS3 to push their BLUray s**t (which worked flawlessly) now they want to push you to buy 3D TV presumably SONY brand. Maybe they should put more effort into getting some quality games on the GAMES console instead of trying to milk everyone.

@blakeney yup, your right about it being north, its basically in between wigan and liverpool. And i dont know of any tescos near me, but can you get any for under £100? as im on job seekers lol, cant get a job, and all my spare money tends to go on new games lmao

I think the 3D future is pretty great! @Reilly86, I agree with your view on having cheaper HDTV's, but must also admit that I just got my hands on a christmas special here in Australia where I purchased a 55" HDTV (3D optional), and sony is giving a bonus pack of Playstation 3 + 4 3D games (one of which is GT5). So for me its a very good entry into PS3, as well as the ultimate Bluray/3D system. And all backed by Sony. That says something about their marketing and where they are heading for the future. * Forgot to mention that the PS3 comes with a 3D kit as well

Wow I didn't catch the part where when they announced 3D gaming that they would integrate it into the PS3 so you don't have to buy a new HDTV. I would buy some glasses then, but not a new tv.

3D is still too expensive to afford,,,besides the glasses always give me itching and are uncomfortable to wear....I hope the technology becomes less expensive in the next 2 years....

3D games...wow thats great...shame no ones got a 3DTV here in the UK. I think most people here in the UK would rather have a cheaper 50inch HD then a 23inch 3DTV thats cost £40 for each extra pair of glasses. And like everything else we buy here it is too expensive compared to the rest of the world and I think most people are fed up with been over charged. Its good to see that game companies are starting to use the latest technology but 3DTV might at the present time be a step to far. Maybe in 5 years time.

@L0newolf___DSH Fair enough on the town, im never heard of it, sounds northen too, so fully belivable that you or anyone you know has one.... :P But im from uk too, and HDTV's are cheap now, you get them cheaper then a ps3 in tesco ect.

@blakeney i live in a town nobody has ever heard of called skelmersdale in England. And it might be hard to believe that i dont know a single person with a HD TV but its true. and they certainly are not going for peanuts. If they were, i would have one. Im not saying that sony shouldnt move on in technology cos im behind on it, im not like that, im basically just saying prices are a bit too steep is all.

people were complaining about HDTVs a couple of years ago......most here too, "oh that will never take off" "its too expensive"!!! Now its fair to say "most" people have HDTV, and those that dont are in a minority...... thats how 3dtv will be in 5-10years time, other then those amoung us that still swears by their green screen VDU's .....LOL.

@kais112 Yea practically anything can be "3Dised" but these games and ps3 capabilitys are like actual 3d...... "3dised" and "3d" are two very different things. The games are made from the ground up in 3d.....not just a 3d "effect"..... no pc components allow for "real! 3d processing as far as i know, they all just add the "3d effect".

You can get 22" hdtvs for penuts nowerdays............ Just becuase you are still on a big old tube based tv, no need for the rest of the world to hold back is there?

@Qv9 - Sony can have a team to focus on the Move and a team to focus on 3D. They don't need to focus on just one tech. Also If PS3 gets in on 3D first the rest will follow.

@L0newold___DSH If you spent your time reading comments before hitting the SUBMIT button, you'd know. 3D itself doesn't "require" you a 3DTV, you've been able to play 3D games back on Sega Master System using a tube TV.

Dont you need a special 3D tv to play these games? this is quite retarded as me and most of the people i know cant even afford a HD TV yet -_- way to leave us in the dust sony

Is Sony's priority 3D or the Move? I think they're focusing too much on 3D when so few people even own the technology. Im still waiting for some really worthwhile games for the Move. FOCUS ON THE MOVE SONY!!

Sounds cool, I like the whole 3D thing but I agree with alot of people that right now it's a 'rip off' because it costs quite alot to do this properly and there isn't much stuff for it, for example the list of 3D films and games is pathetic small =/ I honestly think it's got alot of potential but just needs more content and support.

@kais112 I haven't tried yet, but I will definitely once I buy my new gaming rig: AMD Athlon X4 640 Overclocked at 3.4GHz and Nvidia Geforce GTX 460 768MB as well as 4GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM. :) Looking forwards to trying Just Cause 2 in 3-D.

Sorry for the double post here, but does anyone out there know if Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit for PS3 has received the 3D patch yet? Or are we still waiting? How about NBA 2k11? I heard that it received the patch, but want to wait on it until I know for sure.

The only people that say that 3D gaming "suxorz" have simply never experienced it. MotorStorm in 3D is simply AMAZING. Without it? Not really worth playing. Now, thats just my opinion, but that game is completely cookie cutter material until you view it in 3D. 3D is worth the money people, you just have to experience it. But, bigger is always better with 3D, I play on a 73" DLP and the 3D is very much better than on the little 42" I demo'd the 3D on in a store. Does anyone know if MAG will be one of the games to be "retro-fitted" for 3D? That might finally make the game playable....

News flash, 3D TVs aren't selling well. Granted it's still early on for their marketing of them. I personally don't think they will be able to convince the mass public to wear glasses to watch TV. If the rest of consumers are like me, I am typically multi-tasking when the TV is on, I don't want to be making dinner with glasses on so I can see a 3D TV. And then what happens when half the people there want to watch in 3D and the other half don't. Add in the fact that some people have a hard time watching 3D in the first place. Their target market gets pretty small, considering the costs as well.

I really hope this is i just stupid fad... But unfourtunately, they are rereleasing ALL Star Wars movies at the cinema, in 3D. So the power of Star Wars alone will extend the life of this crap. I've seen a few movies in 3D, they really aren't any better than 2D.
