32.3 quadrillion shots fired in Call of Duty
Activision reveals in-game statistics for popular FPS series; 25 billion hours played is longer than humans have been in existence.
Activision today released a new Call of Duty infographic revealing various statistics that speak to just how much of a behemoth the first-person shooter series really is.
Since the release of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in 2007, more than 100 million people have played a game in the series. Activision points out that number is larger than the population of countries like France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
Players have fired 32.3 quadrillion shots and logged 25 billion hours, which is equivalent to 2.85 million years, or longer than the entirety of human existence, Activision said.
Call of Duty players have called in 31 billion Care Packages since the feature was introduced in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and have destroyed 5 billion cards, which is 5 times the number of registered vehicles in the world, according to Activision.
Call of Duty: Ghosts launches this fall for current- and next-generation consoles, as well as PC. Developer Infinity Ward will debut the game's multiplayer component tomorrow. GameSpot will carry a live-stream of the event.
