Sam & Max sequel announced
Sam and Max, the dog and rabbit duo, will hit the road again in 2004.
LucasArts recently announced that a sequel to its classic Sam & Max adventure game is currently in development. News of a possible sequel was first leaked by now-defunct developer Infinite Machine on that company's Web site last year, though no publisher was named at the time. Originally, Infinite Machine stated that this sequel would be developed solely for the Xbox. However, LucasArts' announcement this morning clearly indicates that this game is being developed for the PC, and no mention of any console versions was made.
"Sam & Max Hit the Road is a classic and as close to being a signature game as any LucasArts has ever done," said LucasArts president Simon Jeffery. "The Sam & Max sequel, much like the recently announced Full Throttle II, perfectly complements LucasArts' renowned adventure game legacy and lends further support to the company's commitment to investing in and developing more of our original properties."
No other details beyond the game's existence were given in the press release, except for the fact that this sequel should be ready in the first quarter of 2004. It also wasn't made clear whether the game was being developed internally at LucasArts or at an external developer. We'll have more details on the Sam & Max sequel as they become available.
