Perfect Pac-Man Score Achieved

For the first time in video game history a perfect score has been achieved for the legendary Pac-Man arcade game.

Twin Galaxies, keeper of video game scores and records, has announced that a perfect score for the legendary Pac-Man arcade game has been achieved. With only one quarter, Billy Mitchell, 33, of Fort Lauderdale reached a score of 3,333,360 points - the maximum allowed by Pac-Man. This record will be placed in next year's edition of the Twin Galaxies' Official Video Game & Pinball Book of World Records.

"I had to be first," said Mitchell. "It's like Neil Armstrong walking on the moon. No matter how many people accomplish the feat afterwards, it will always be Armstrong who will be remembered for doing it first. And, best of all, it was an American."

The six-hour spectacle was recorded on video by Funspot, an arcade family fun center in Weirs Beach, NH. "I never have to play that darn game again," Mitchell sighed in relief. "There's nothing more I can accomplish."

Mitchell holds the world record on for Donkey Kong as well.

XBL has renewed some peoples interest in PAC MAN. Nothing wrong with that.

i never understood how a truly perfect score would work, as after level 16 on pac man, the ghosts will no longer be affected by the power pellets, so how could anyone be able to eat all 4 ghosts, 4 times on each board?! no one has ever explained this!

so you would have to sync up all 4 ghosts ontop of each other and run into them at the exact same time as they and you run into the power pellet . how can this even be done?

Nope--it was the original Pac-Man that freaks out after level 255. IIRC Ms. Pac was coded with that overflow condition in mind, and as such doesn't freak--though I could be wrong on that.

I think it is Ms Pac Man that bugs out - after the 255th screen.

A record holder in Pac-Man and Donkey Kong...two legendary games. I wonder how long it took him to get that good. I should look him up and see if he wants to be in my Gears of War clan.

If I remember correctly, the game bugs out after level 256 and has weird colors, but keeps playing; am I right?
