Wombat Games Announces Dark Zion
Fantasy author Tad Williams and Ultima Online team members come together to develop the massively multiplayer game.
Wombat Games, formed in 1998 by three former members of the Ultima Online team, announced its first game today, a massively multiplayer world RPG called Dark Zion. The game focuses on giving players more control over the persistent world, allowing them to create clans and governments, build cities, and wage wars. Tad Williams, best-selling fantasy author of titles such as Stone of Farewell, is a creative consultant for the game's story and design.
Based in Austin, Texas, Wombat Games is the brainchild of Rick Delashmit (former lead programmer of Ultima Online), Jason Spangler (former lead programmer of UO: The Second Age), and Todd McKimmey (former designer on UO). Wombat is currently looking for a publisher for Dark Zion and intends to release the game for the PC, Mac, and Linux.
