Earlier this morning, Take-Two Interactive announced that it has released 100 Great Linux Games Vol. 1, a compilation of classic games like Pong and Chess, for the Linux OS. Global Star, the company's recently acquired developer, will be working on subsequent volumes of the Great Linux Games series.

"We are pleased to be exploring game publishing opportunities for the Linux operating system," said company CEO Ryan Brant. "Linux has enjoyed a remarkable penetration amongst computer users in the past 18 months, and our company is excited to be able to begin supporting the massive installed base of Linux users with high-quality gaming products."

Additionally, Take-Two plans on releasing two as-yet-unnamed original games for the Linux platform in 2000.
