Karaoke goes Country

CMT and Konami hook up; newest Revolution to feature both kinds of music: country and western!

Konami's Dance Dance Revolution series already lets gamers shake their thang, but the next installment in the publisher's Karaoke Revolution line will let them show their twang as well.

Produced in partnership with Country Music Television (CMT) and developed by Harmonix, CMT Presents: Karaoke Revolution Country is set for a Grand Ole Opry-esque debut on the PlayStation 2 this March. The game will feature 35 songs, ranging from classics like "The Gambler" and "Stand By Your Man" to newer fare like "Redneck Woman" and "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)." The multiplayer and party modes will be able to accommodate up to eight players. Peripherals are also supported, as would-be men and women of constant sorrow can use a pair of microphones for duets, or hook up Sony's EyeToy camera and create a 3D model of their own heads for in-game enjoyment.

CMT Presents: Karaoke Revolution Country is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's coverage from the 2006 Konami Gamers' Day press event.

Well, this is one Karaoke Revolution game I won't be buying, unless they put in A LOT of the pop versions of country music. I'm rather disappointed, I would have liked to have made a collection since I have all the previous versions, but my dislike for country music is far greater than my desire for a complete collection.

    Nice Blues Brothers reference.

I would sing some of these songs, so it'll probably be on par with the other entries.

YES! I love country music, I was raised on it, and my wife calls me the "country music encyclopedia. Of course as I got older I started listening to all different kinds of music but Country stays at the top... I will have this game and accesories. Gotta Pre-Order.... Uhm, what'd I do with that EB Games phone #

This should be a good entry in the DDR franchise. The songs look to be pretty good also.

As a fan of Country Music, DDR, and karaoke (which means "can't sing for crap" in Japanese) I think more C&W is needed. 'Most' people have heard all these songs before and know some of the words. At a party it would probably be more accepted and goes over slightly better than most other genres of music. I could be wrong though.

Cool. Glad to see it. Unlike anyone else on this site, I actually LIKE a little country every once in a while.
