Film composer scores SOCOM 3
James Michael Dooley conducted 70-piece orchestra to create background music for Sony's new US Navy SEALs game.
With the ongoing trend of turning games into more-cinematic experiences, it's no surprise that publishers are increasingly turning to Hollywood to provide content for their games. Another example of this surfaced today, as Sony has commissioned film composer James Michael Dooley to provide the score for its upcoming PlayStation 2 squad-based first-person shooter SOCOM 3: US Navy SEALs.
According to the Internet Movie Database, Dooley has provided additional music for Madagascar, Thunderbirds, and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, as well as served as an assistant to Hans Zimmer on Pearl Harbor, Mission: Impossible 2, and Gladiator, for which Zimmer received an Oscar nomination.
SOCOM 3 won't be Dooley's first foray into gaming, as he also scored Namco's Dead to Rights II earlier this year.
SOCOM 3 is scheduled for release in October, with a retail price of $49.99.
