Rebelstar: Tactical Command ships to stores
New squad-based strategy Game Boy Advance game from the developer of X-Com arrives at North American retailers tomorrow.
Strategy aficionados looking for turn-based tactics on the go will be happy to learn that Namco today shipped Rebelstar: Tactical Command for the Game Boy Advance to retailers across North America.
Developed by Codo Technologies, the veteran developer of the X-Com and Laser Squad Nemesis PC games, Rebelstar tells the brightly colored story of a grim future where mankind has been subjugated by alien invaders. Stepping into the shoes of the newest recruit to the human resistance, Jorel (no relation to Superman's father), gamers must lead a squad of soldiers through a single-player campaign mode where their troops will hone skills and level up with combat experience.
Neither the developer nor Namco is trying very hard to distance Rebelstar from its obvious inspirations. "Rebelstar: Tactical Command is a turned-based strategy title that captures the gameplay PC gamers have been enjoying for years," Namco's business director Jeff Lujan said in a statement. To find out whether Rebelstar lives up to the lofty standards of its heritage, check back later this week for GameSpot's full review.
Rebelstar: Tactical Command is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older and retails for $19.99.
