Getting Up set for simultaneous November launch

Marc Ecko's graffiti game will spray PCs, Xboxes, and PS2s simultaneously.

Marc Ecko has enjoyed a lot of media attention recently, but the fashion mogul isn't getting any love for his clothing line. His upcoming game, Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure, has been tagged as being a threat to public property by New York City Councilman Peter F. Vallone and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. In the game, players roam a Gotham-esque metropolis while spray painting their pieces all over the city's landscape.

The gameplay has caused an uproar among concerned people who think that young impressionable citizens will reenact the game on real-life sites. Such copycat behavior has urged many to call for a ban on the game's release.

Those figuring out when to begin painting their own picket signs have a better idea of when to get to work. Atari today announced that the game, previously scheduled for a "Fall 2005" release, will now simultaneously ship in November on the PC, PlayStation 2, and Xbox.

A statement by Atari implies that the game was expected to be street-worthy earlier than November. "The extra time offers the development team at The Collective additional time for adding the polish," said Marc Metis, senior vice president of marketing for Atari.

Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure is awaiting rating information and will be released in two editions, a $49.99 standard edition and a $59.99 limited edition.
