Exit killer, enter Jack Thompson

Web site gamepolitics.com and the Ohio-based Columbus Dispatch are reporting that headline-seeking attorney Jack Thompson will represent the family of Gail Knisley, shot and killed in November 2003 by Charles A. McCoy Jr. while she drove on an interstate in the Columbus area. Reportedly, Thompson will bring a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of the Knisley family against a number of game publishers--thought by Thompson to have prompted or contributed to McCoy's actions. McCoy was an avid player of video games. For more than a year, from May 2003 to March 2004, McCoy randomly targeted and shot at autos, a home, and a school, claiming "messages from the TV" compelled him toward those and other actions. McCoy was sentenced yesterday to 27 years in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter for the death of Gail Knisley.
