Black Hawk Down lands in retail

Tactical first-person shooter now available for PlayStation 2, Xbox. Xbox allows up to 50 simultaneous online players.

NovaLogic today announced that Delta Force: Black Hawk Down has landed in stores for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. UK developers Climax, whose previous portfolio includes Sudeki and MotoGP 3, worked on the Xbox version, and Rebellion, the studio behind Alien Versus Predator, worked on the PS2 version.

The game takes place during the events that occurred in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993, as depicted in the Ridley Scott's film Black Hawk Down. Each platform has slightly different take on the game, with the Xbox version leaning toward a direct port of the 2003 PC version, and the PS2 edition including skill development.

As a member of the Delta Force unit, gamers will take on 16 missions in the single-player campaign and battle native forces. The multiplayer portion supports cooperative play and up to 50 players over Xbox Live, or up to 32 players over an online-enabled PS2.

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down is rated T for Teen and retails for $49.99. For more information on the game, read GameSpot's E3 2005 Impressions or check back next week for a full review.
