Sony testing out PSP movie rentals in Japan
Pilot program will see 50 stores rent limited selection of UMD movies.
TOKYO--PSP owners in Japan might soon be able to grab Universal Media Disc movies for their vacations without buying them. Sony Pictures Entertainment announced it will begin an experimental UMD rental program in Japan. Starting July 16, 50 outlets of the GEO video rental chain will offer 14 titles. A second batch will be made available on July 27.
Only UMD movies will be offered during the experiment, since games are not for rent in Japan. A complete list of titles is below:
