TOKYO--Japanese gamers will be getting their next dose of Viewtiful Joe this fall, according to developer and publisher Capcom. The game, formerly known as Viewtiful Joe VFX Battle, will now hit shelves on September 29 under the title of Viewtiful Joe: Battle Carnival. The GameCube game will be priced at 6,090 yen ($54). The game will retain the VFX Battle suffix in North America when it's released in November.

In the game, Joe returns for more cinematic superhero action with girlfriend Silvia, rival Alastor, and silver screen star Captain Blue. The Captain is working on a new film but can't decide who to cast as the movie's lead. How does he remedy the problem? He decides to let interested parties fight for the role.

The game is also in development for Sony's PSP, but no release date has been announced for the handheld yet. A Viewtiful Joe game is also in the works for the DS and is scheduled for release in October in the US.
