True Crime 2 NYC-bound
Web site for Activison's upcoming actioner reveals its bad-cop/good-cop protagonist will take a bite out of the Big Apple.
During E3 last month, Activision gave gamers their first look at the sequel to its popular driving action game, True Crime: Streets of L.A. However, the publisher played coy about which city the new game will take place in. In fact, the company used this ambiguity as the centerpiece of a contest that asked entrants to guess the game's locale.
Now that the contest has ended, Activision has revealed that the new True Crime will take place in America's other signature metropolis. The game's official Web site now touts its title as "True Crime: New York City" and also shows the distinctive Manhattan skyline in the background.
Developed by Activison-owned Luxoflux, True Crime: New York City will follow another policeman through the meticulously re-created streets of a real-life metropolitan area. However, instead of the wisecracking LAPD detective Nick Kang, gamers will now play as Marcus Reed, a former gang member turned NYPD officer. Though few details about TC:NYC have been revealed, it will presumably have a similar moral-ambiguity system where Marcus can be either a good or a (very) bad cop.
GameSpot will have more on True Crime: New York City as further details are unearthed. The game is currently scheduled for released on the Xbox, GameCube, and PlayStation 2 in the fall.
