Publisher Hip Games today announced Call of Cthulhu: Destiny's End for the PC. The survival horror game is being developed by UK studio Headfirst Productions, which has a morbid appreciation for author H.P. Lovecraft. This is the fourth Headfirst game associated with the writer's Call of Cthulhu stories, all of which are currently in development.

"H.P. Lovecraft inspired a litany of great writers and filmmakers," said Mike Woodroffe, marketing director and cofounder of Headfirst Productions. "We intend to do his legacy justice."

In Destiny's End, gamers will control two characters, named simply Emily and Jacob, throughout the game. Each is dependent on the other, and each can be controlled at any point. In addition, two players divvy up the responsibilities in a cooperative mode.

The two protagonists return home to the town of Innsmouth to uncover the truth behind its past. The survival horror game will combine adventure and action as gamers explore the twisted Cthulhu universe.

Call of Cthulhu: Destiny's End is scheduled for a 2006 release. GameSpot will have more on the game soon.
