Dirge of Cerberus to be shooter RPG
Square Enix finally reveals the genre for Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII.
Last summer, Square Enix showed the first glimpse of its next Final Fantasy game, Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII. At the time, the publisher only gave small details as to what the PlayStation 2 game might be like, revealing that it would feature FFVII's gunman, Vincent Valentine, as its main character. A brief trailer at last fall's Tokyo Game Show hinted that it might play as an action game rather than a role-playing game. The latest issue of Shonen Jump magazine has revealed that Dirge of Cerberus will play as a "Gun Action RPG."
The magazine shows screenshots of Vincent in action from a third-person perspective, but there are also screenshots of a first-person perspective with a sniper rifle. More details on Dirge of Cerberus should become available once E3 opens next week. Stay tuned to GameSpot for coverage from the show.
