THQ wrestling with online issues

In a statement on the company Web site, THQ addresses Xbox Live problems with WWE WrestleMania XXI.

Wrestling fans got a bit of their own SmackDown! last Wednesday when they attempted to play THQ's WWE WrestleMania XXI over Xbox Live. Connection issues made the retail version of the grappler strictly an offline game, even though it was touted as having Xbox Live support.

THQ has acknowledged the issue and is currently working on the problem. In a statement on its Web site, the company says it is "currently working to issue an auto update that will be available for download on Xbox Live as quickly as possible." Apparently, a manufacturing error at the disc replication factory was the culprit of the "could not connect to Xbox Live" error message gamers received when they tried to play online.

GameSpot will have more on the situation as it develops.
