PSP MVP benched until May?
EBgames.com listing indicates EA's slugger might not round third until after its previously anticipated April date.
Gamers eager to catch a few innings of Electronic Arts' MVP Baseball on their PSPs may have to wait until the second month of the 2005 Major League Baseball season. MVP Baseball was originally scheduled to appear on Sony's portable in April, but online retailers are listing the game's release date as May 3. Requests made to EA for confirmation of the delay were not answered as of press time.
This isn't the first time online retailers blew the whistle on a date change for an EA Sports game. When the console and PC versions of MVP Baseball 2005 shipped earlier than previously thought, diehard baseball gamers were alerted by online stores, such as EBgames.com, rather than by an official release from EA.
The PSP MVP shares several elements from its console counterparts, including the home run showdown, quick play, and season modes. (Franchise mode, however, seems to have been relegated to the dugout.) The game does include MVP's familiar pitching and batting interfaces, as well as full commentary from Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow, the voices of the San Francisco Giants.
MVP Baseball is rated "E" for Everyone and will retail for $49.99. For more information on the pint-sized diamond dandy, slide into GameSpot's hands-on with the game.
