Ghost Recon 2 grabs reinforcements
Ubisoft's "auto-upgrade" improves stability, adds interface elements, and fixes notorious spawn-camping bugs; new content coming March 7.
Ubisoft has released an "auto-upgrade" for its Xbox squad-based shooter Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2. The update automatically downloads when Ghost Recon 2 users connect to Xbox Live.
The additions include indicators that show which players are entering and leaving the game lobby and a signal that shows which player is talking via the Xbox Live communicator. Network stability has been improved, as well as the time needed to check for downloadable content, says Ubisoft. The update also irons out audio problems and makes navigating the friends list more user-friendly. Gameplay has been leveled out by fixing a respawn issue that put fallen gamers back in the action--and directly in the line of fire of "spawn campers," gamers who wait patiently by areas designated for defenseless soldiers just getting back into a multiplayer game.
Ubisoft also announced that new downloadable content will be available for Ghost Recon 2 on March 7. The pack will include three maps, two new modes, eight weapons, and two skins. No pricing information was given.
Ghost Recon 2 is rated T for Teen and retails for $49.99. For more information on the game, read GameSpot's full review.
