Dragon Ball Z: Sagas rolls into factory
Multiplatform release is first action adventure game in the series; franchise makes its debut on the Xbox.
Fans of the popular anime series Dragon Ball Z have had a plethora of games to sink their teeth into. Since the series' debut in 1988, it seems that there is always a new Dragon Ball Z game bouncing onto store shelves. However, the games have been limited mainly to rehashed fighting games and more-of-the-same role-playing games.
Fans looking to venture out and deliver beatings in the DBZ universe may finally have gotten what they're looking for. Atari today announced that Dragon Ball Z: Sagas has gone gold and will be available for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, and GameCube on March 22.
The game is being developed by Salt Lake City-based Avalanche Software, the team working on Eidos' upcoming thug-fest 25 to Life. Dragon Ball Z: Sagas marks the first action adventure game in the series. It is also the first multiplatform launch of a DBZ game, as well as the DBZ debut on the Xbox.
Dragon Ball Z: Sagas takes place in and between the Saiyan Saga and the Cell Games eras of the series. Gamers can now run amok in the DBZ world, playing as recognizable characters like Goku, Piccolo, and Vegeta. The mission-based game will see players using their superpowers to battle such bosses as Frieza, Cell, and Raditz.
Dragon Ball Z: Sagas is rated T for Teen and will retail for $49.99 on the PS2 and Xbox and $39.99 on the GameCube. For more information, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
