Tekken 5 to include original Tekken

The classic arcade fighter will be bundled with the upcoming PS2 title as a freebie in honor of Tekken's 10th anniversary.

TOKYO-- Retail sources in Japan have confirmed recent rumors that Namco plans to include the original Tekken in its version of Tekken 5 for the PlayStation 2 in honor of Tekken's 10th anniversary. The game will be reportedly accessible through an arcade history mode, and Tekken 5's developers are also reportedly considering including Tekken 2 and Tekken 3 on the disc. Tekken 4 will not be included, since it was released just three years ago and is still the Japanese equivalent to one of Sony's budget-priced Greatest Hits title. It was unclear if the American version of Tekken 5 would also include the original Tekken.

Tekken 5 will include other gaming modes like an arcade battle mode that mimics arcade gameplay; story battle mode, which allows players to follow individual character's storylines; versus mode for two-player sparring; time attack mode, which allows players to race against the clock to beat the game; team battle mode, where players fight in teams; practice mode, for those who want to hone their moves; customize mode, allows players to customize their characters; and Tekken ADV Mode (tentative title), where players become series hero Jin Kazama. GameSpot's previous coverage has more on Tekken 5.
