Nintendo DS descends on retail

The Japanese game behemoth's new dual-screen handheld is now available to the public at large.

Until yesterday, only a select group of game journalists and celebrities could actually fulfill Nintendo's promotional slogan for its new DS handheld: "Touching is good."

But as of yesterday, the hoi polloi could also finally get their hands on the dual-screen handheld. That's right--the DS has launched, meaning that everyday Nintendophiles everywhere can begin stroking, fondling, and caressing the device. That is, provided they can find a DS. Due to the numerous "midnight madness" events at many game retailers, the device is reportedly hard to find.

For a full introduction to the new dual-screen handheld and its myriad technical capabilities, peruse our Nintendo DS 101 feature over at GameSpot Hardware.
