No online body-slamming for Backyard Wrestling 2

Eidos reveals that its taboo-tweaking brawler will no longer have online functionality.

If you were looking forward to smashing opponents online in Backyard Wrestling 2: There Goes the Neighborhood, prepare to be body-slammed. Eidos quietly informed the press today that the controversy-courting PlayStation 2 and Xbox wrestler will not have its previously promised head-to-head online play, which would have allowed for trash-talking via headsets.

"Backyard Wrestling 2: There Goes the Neighborhood for the PS2 and Xbox will ship on to retail on November 16 in the US, without the online component, and will hit store shelves in time for the holiday season," was the only statement from the company.

However, even without online play, Backyard Wrestling 2 still has many things to offer: Players can play as porn star Tera Patrick, rocker Andrew WK, or assorted members of the Insane Clown Posse. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
