Spider-Man 2 to launch with the Nintendo DS
The webslinging adventure will be Activision's first title for the dual-screened portable.
Activision officially announced its first title for the Nintendo DS today--Spider-Man 2. The movie-licensed title will be a launch title for the handheld platform, which means it should launch alongside the system on November 21. This is the first launch title that has been confirmed for the DS. Developed by Vicarious Visions, Spider-Man 2 will carry a rating of Everyone.
Details on Spider-Man 2's gameplay--such as whether it will feature the same open-ended style of play as its console cousins--are scarce, but Activision president Kathy Vrabeck said today that the game would use the system's dual screens to provide "more unique and intuitive gameplay." What use, if any, the title will make of the DS' stylus controller has yet to be announced.
No retail price for the title has been announced, either, but this is not surprising, since software price points in general for the DS are still under wraps and will probably be revealed by Nintendo, along with the rest of the DS launch lineup, at a series of press conferences on October 7.
