Codemasters today announced that TOCA Race Driver 2: Ultimate Racing Simulator, which was released for the Xbox and PC in April, is currently in development for the PlayStation 2. The PS2 version of the game is being developed from the ground up by Codemasters' TOCA development team and is currently scheduled for release in October.
The PS2 version of TOCA Race Driver 2 will support online play for up to eight players, and it will boast a number of features not found in the Xbox or PC games. The addition of Spain's famous Catalunya circuit will bring the total number of racing circuits in the game to 52, while an expanded championship structure will purportedly offer players a further 99 car and track combinations. We're also told that the PS2 game runs at a smooth 60 frames per second, even with the maximum of 21 cars on a track simultaneously.
TOCA Race Driver 2 features no less than 15 different motor racing styles, including GT Sports Car Racing, Street Racing, Rally, DTM, V8 Supercars, Global GT Lights, Rally Cross, Formula Ford, Open Wheel Grand Prix, Classic Car Racing, Super Trucks, Stockcar Oval Racing, Ice Racing, Convertible Racing, and Performance Cars.
