Dino Dini and DC-Studios today announced that they are teaming up to develop what they promise will be a "revolution in soccer video games." Dino Dini is widely regarded as the godfather of the soccer game genre, having created such influential titles as Kick Off, Player Manager, Goal, and Dino Dini's Football. DC-Studios, which was recently responsible for the development of Majesco's GBA-Video technology, is headed up by Mark Greenshields, whose credits include a number of Kick Off sequels, such as Kick Off 2 and Super Kick Off.

"The current generation of football games has no focus on the player," said Dini. "The game itself is the spectacle. This is a problem. It is the player's experience [that] is the key to creating a game [that] is accessible, playable, and has long-term appeal to players. If you can create an experience that satisfies the player each and every time [he or she] plays the game, then you have created a classic."

"Since working on Kick Off, I have had the desire and passion to show the world how a football game should really be done," added Greenshields, managing director of DC-Studios. "I've always planned on DC-Studios creating a football game at some point but wanted to wait until we could contribute something genuinely new to the game. Dino and I had some long discussions last year, and it was a revelation, as we found we both agreed on almost every level about what could be done to create a football game with a difference. The agreement between DC and Dino is very exciting, and we're looking forward to showing everyone the future of footballing video games."

The as yet unnamed soccer title is currently scheduled for release on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, PC, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, and PSP. The title and release date for the game are expected to be announced in the near future.
