JoWood signs Yetisports
JoWood plans to release both PC and console titles based on the popular Yetisports Internet game.
JoWood today announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with the creators of the popular Internet game Yetisports. Developed by Vienna-based Edelweiss Medienwerkstatt, the Yetisports Web site, where visitors play games starring a yeti and a penguin, currently attracts well over 100 million visitors per month.
"We are happy and proud to include this extremely interesting casual game brand, which has reached worldwide popularity and recognition at lightening speed, in our portfolio," said Andreas Tobler, CEO at JoWood. "We are convinced we will be able to launch a series of attractive games and establish a sustained impression as a brand name on the market."
"Yetisports has been welcomed with open arms and total enthusiasm by gamers worldwide. We have managed to establish a widespread utilization chain, starting with the online game, which optimally covers the needs of the game community," added Stephan Mahrhofer, lead manager of Edelweiss Medienwerkstatt. "After just a few weeks, numerous giants from the gaming industry contacted us. JoWood tipped the scales lastly--not only because JoWood was able to present an extremely engaged and planned strategy for Yetisports in the electronic games' marketing arena. We are certain to have found the best business partner in JoWood, a partner who is willing to take the right steps together with us to make Yetisports a success in the video game industry."
JoWood plans to release a number of Yetisports titles for PC, console, and handheld platforms later this year. We'll bring you more information as soon as it becomes available.
