Doom board game in the works

id Software's classic Doom franchise is branching out from the keyboard and mouse to dice and plastic miniatures.

At this year's GAMA Trade Show event (Game Manufacturers Association), a company called Fantasy Flight Games announced a new board game in development based on id Software's Doom franchise.

The game itself is set to be largely modeled after id's upcoming entry in the franchise, Doom 3, and will feature sculpted plastic miniatures of the game's characters, board pieces for players to create their own custom maps, specialized oversized dice, and a number of different weapon types.

Doom: The Board Game is scheduled to hit stores in October, and will retail for the price of $39.95.
