Codemasters announces IndyCar Series 2005
Codemasters' next IndyCar game will feature online play for both the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. First screens inside.
Codemasters has today announced that it will release IndyCar Series 2005 in PAL territories this summer. The game is officially licensed by the Indy Racing League and will feature online play for up to 12 players on the Xbox or eight on the PlayStation 2.
IndyCar Series 2005 will allow players to compete as one of 33 cars on the track in the single-player mode, and it will feature all 15 of the circuits used in the IndyCar Series season, including Indianapolis and the newly opened Twin Ring Motegi Speedway in Japan. Opponents in the game will drive more intelligently than in last year's offering and, according to Codemasters, will make dynamic strategic racing decisions as they defend their position, slipstream other drivers, and make the occasional mistake.
Although the PS2 version of IndyCar Series 2005 has not been confirmed for North America at this time, the Xbox game is currently scheduled for release on May 25. We'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
