Peter Tamte, the former executive vice president of Bungie Software and creator of MacSoft, today announced the name of his new game development company, Destineer. The company will create games for Windows, Macintosh, and video game console systems using proprietary 3D technology.

"Destineer is all about adventure. We hope playing our games will give people the exhilaration of discovering something new," Tamte said. "We've had a team of engineers and artists building our own 3D engine since January to make sure our original games look and play differently than other games."

In addition, the company will bring several Microsoft games to the Macintosh platform under Bold, the company's new Macintosh label. The company currently plans to bring Age of Empires II, Links 2002, and Flight Simulator 2002 to the Macintosh platform.

Destineer will launch its official Web site next month, and it will unveil its upcoming games in 2002.
