Bethesda including Alduin statue, artbook, and making-of DVD in top bundle for new Elder Scrolls game; also available in UK and Australia.
BioWare's Dragon Age series isn't the only fantasy franchise featuring fearsome flying foes. Bethesda is making that abundantly clear this year with the release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Collector's Edition, which features a foot-tall statue of one of the game's featured dragons.
The $150 Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Collector's Edition (pictured at right) packs in a 12-inch PVC statue of Alduin, a dragon known in the game as the World Eater. It also includes an "Art of Skyrim" artbook, which spans some 200 pages and includes a foreword by Bethesda design director Todd Howard.
Lastly, the collector's edition of Skyrim includes a making-of DVD. This documentary-style video takes players from the concept to the conclusion of Skyrim and includes behind-the-scenes looks at the game, as well as interviews with Bethesda developers.
In addition to being available in North America, the Skyrim Collector's Edition will be sold in the United Kingdom and Australia. Bethesda says the collector's edition is "extremely limited." @ Chud Soundtrack? Elder Scrolls has hardly ever had any music. Definitely not enough to make a soundtrack. Basically you'd have main theme, battle music, inside a city music. That's about it. This collector's edition does seem weak though. The statue should be metal.
@Targzissian I completely agree, where is the flipping soundtrack? I would think by now including the games soundtrack in all of these over priced Collector's Editions would be a no brainer. It's kind of like the selling point. I'm a sucker for included soundtracks. (Although I was more than a little upset with the first Mass Effect Collector's Edition. Sure it said it had a soundtrack, one that you could only play in dvd form......) Without it there is absolutely no way to justify paying well over double for this. No one really cares about the making-of dvd's, we have been witnessing and following the making-of this game since it's announcement. The art book is kind of cool, but not worth it. As for the PVC dragon statue? Come on? Really? If it is sooo limited, why not have them made by Randy Bowen or made of better quality at least and make them worth the money? This game is huge, a lot of people have been waiting a long time for it and they are putting out this for a C.E? This is just robbery, taking advantage of hardcore fans with this cheap heap. I may have fallen for this 4 years ago, but now now. I will not buy another overpriced collectors edition until they put some real effort and thought into it, and make it worth the price.
Was gonna get this until i found out it was $50 more than other collector's editions. Not happy But I'd rather put that money to have a nice dinner with the girlfriend rather than just a normal dinner.
@Frame_Dragger Good point, plus my coffee tastes so much better in a 25$ dollar cup... As for nerds, i think your confusing them with geeks.
You know, developers always claim these "deluxe-super-awesome-collector's editions" are rare, but for some odd reason I can go into a game store a year after its release and still find 1 or 2 collector boxes sitting dusty on the shelf.
I see a lot of negative comments, not sure i understand why. None of these companies are here to make people happy, they want to make money and milking the uber nerd crowd is where these nerd editions turn up a profit. AKA how to turn 12-14 ounces of worthless plastic into a 50$ bill? shape it into a dragon found in our game, and thats fine, theres a nerd market for it. Im not a nerd and you would have to pay me a LOT of money to put a dragon statue on display in my house and be ridiculed by all my friends, but i also understand that this product was never intended for me and that other people with different realities will proudly display their dragon statue for all to see, while they probably wouldn't give a damn about my overpriced Harley Davidson mugs and helmets ect... i have lying around, so let em enjoy their dragon.
$150? they do realize there is a little thing called Global Financial Crisis! You will never find me buying a game more than $25, no matter how good it is.
shani_boy101, totally agree. I'd say this CE is roughly $50 over-priced. Bethesda is banking (literally) that the Elder Scrolls fan boy nerds will lose their brains and not care as long as its a "l33t" CE. Problem is, this CE doesn't really pack much in there to justify the extra $90 expense. Heck, the pre-order version for $60 comes with the map. So, why bother with this?
Sorry, as cool as the dragon looks, there isn't enough in there to justify the $150. The last collectors edition I bought and ever will buy was the inFamous 2 hero edition, and that came with something legitimately useful and game related: A replica, full size slingpack. It also came with a ton of skins, extra powers, a Cole statue, a comic book, soundtrack and stuff, and it cost $50 less than this.
lol This is ridiculously over-priced. I'm excited to buy this game, but $150? No thanks. I'd rather just go buy a collectible D&D figurine of a dragon at a local hobby/games store & pretend it's a collector's edition...would be a lot higher quality than this PVC crap too.
I throw toy dragons at hobos while shouting "Bahamut attacks" If they fall over or walk away I am forced by court order to follow up with a victory shout of "Critial Strike!"
Ohh...do I atleast get a coffee mug or duffle bag with this $150 donation? Twenty to one, if you do your research, you'll find that there was a surplus of plastic dragon statues from China that they were just going to throw away and Bethesda reps got a deal on it. Anyway...guess im just bitter all theses extra fees just to play a game (lookin at you EA)
Two things I always want in a collector's edition. Art book, and soundtrack CD. Where's the soundtrack CD?
Pieham, that might be an error. £130 is what, near twice the American price? I won't be getting the tchotchke edition. Has anyone ever done something with their editions other than E-bay or making their houses tackier? Soundtracks appeal to me, and art books on rare occasions. Maybe it's my age but by 28 I really don't need to decorate my place with toy dragons.
Soo....I Browse On Game ( UK Store) , And I Find This Collectors Edition For £130 And Was Completely Shocked By The Price Considering Batman : Arkham City's Collectors Edition, Which Features Almost The Same As Skyrim's With the few changes , Costs A Mere £60
@Odinssin Thor Actually Skyrim runs on a new engine. To add to that oblivion and fallout run on different versions of the same engine. Just thought i clear that up.
I preordered this collectors edition... Why because with the way the video gaming market is going I'm convinced the ps3 will probably be my last console so might as well get a few nice reminders of them good ol years...
I got the fallout 3 collectors edition and the wee figurine of the power armour dude broke in two when it fell off my pc and I realised I was left with a normal edition game in a bigger empty box that cost more. I could have spent that extra money in the pub! this dragon looks like its made of the same stuff... no way I'm falling for that again.
Eh, no need for me to spend 150 for the collectors edition, because I know that Im going to drop 50 more dollars after buying the regular edition for expansions and stuff.
The statue is probably very expensive and where all the money is going. And "extremely limited" also sounds like they plan on the vast majority of dudes to pass this up.
@packtop The cloth map comes with a preorder, not with the CE. I would guess that a CE would also have a cloth map though.
150 it too much, that better come with holding the cute register girl breast for 5 minutes after purchase lol.
$150-WT#?! I can understand an $80 CE but 150 is ridiculous and it doesn't even have that many items. I even think $100 CE is pushin it but I mean 150, why would they do that? Don't get me wrong I loved Fallout 3 and I think Bethesda Studios is one of the best in the business but this is too much.
Gonna go for the regular edition on this one. Game is a day 1 buy, but it's not worth the $150. Can't wait though :)
This is absolutely ridiculous... You can get a Dragon lead model (those used for tabletop RPG) for 20 dollars and paint it yourself. It's even more durable... http://www.faerieglennj.com/r1121040.html http://www.amazon.com/Safari-10145-Ice-Dragon/dp/B004I28EAY/ref=acc_glance_t_ai_ps_t3_t_9
@Frame_Dragger No, actually I just felt too lazy to check the comments to see if anyone else noticed. No need to start saying that "I posted this oh Blah Blah read the comments you fool", just wanted to point it out that the title was wrong.
Give me a decent preorder bonus from Steam other than the stupid in game helmut for TF2 and maybe I'll give you my money.
I'm waiting until Skyrim is $49.99 or less. I'm sure the plastic dragon will sell very well, five years from now, at garage sales all over the country.
@Mejikojin i don't care anymore everyone and their mom is going to buy this game. perfect game perfect 10 out of 10 when it comes out
I always wondered why don't most games just add more content to the game for collector editions? Or even vouchers for free future DLC. That'd appeal more to me. But then again the extra stuff is for "COLLECTORS" so no big whoop, maybe they could also make a special edition with bonus content *shrug*
Cool? Very. Worth the cost? Not really. Just do this: Wait about a year and then buy the statue one ebay for a fraction of the cost. Worked for me for the Halo Reach statue, and it was cheap!
@Mejikojin we all can obviously see that you are just looking for a fight and yes i have played those games and skyrim stands alone and no one should ever compare it to another game so enough said enjoy the game because everyone knows you will buy it.
I will pass on the CE at $150 and get a copy of RAGE and another game and still feel I got my monies worth
For $150 I should get a sound track CD too, as well as how they made the game, and a book how the story of the whole Oblivion thing. I would even drop the price down, let's say maybe I dunno $85.00. $150 I can fix or replace some parts in my car, or buy several articles of clothes, maybe a new bike, add another $100 I got a new x-Box.... maybe buy much needed groceries (month supply) at an expensive store, or I could buy some new games... you get the point. They just want our money because it's popular right now
