Old meets new, but is that a good thing?
I think they did good with the overall visual presentation and art-style. However not much feels familiar except the first level and maybe the spook houses. Whether thats a good thing or not? Thats your choice I guess.
The poweup suits were a fun addition and obviously hearken back to Mario 3 as well as the world map design. However, it seems there are not as many levels as say in Super Mario World for Super Nintendo.
One thing that sortof bugged me was the control. I dont know if Im just getting rusty or if the controls were tweaked but it definitely seemed different in this Mario game. I understand there is room for human error but it did seem alot more frustrating or difficult to control than in previous side-scrolling Mario games.
All of these things aside though this is a pretty solid (as expected) Mario game and is worth a play through if youre a fan. I wouldnt say its my favorite Mario but it isnt a bad game either.
