Great Game, Great Value!

User Rating: 7.5 | Pikmin (Wii de Asobu) WII
Originally released for the Nintendo Gamecube back in 2001 "Pikmin" makes it's way onto the Wii as part of Nintendo's new play control games which take Gamecube games and ports them to the Wii with Wii specific controls. The main question here is what makes it different from the original Gamecube version? Well first off now you use the Wiimote to point onscreen to throw your Pikmin in various places which is an improvement and works nicely with the Wii controls. Another difference is the game now saves your progress day by day so if you think you could of done better on a certain day you can pick that day out and redo it to better your progress. The only graphical update is that the game now allows you to play in 16:9 wide screen which is a nice touch. Now onto the main game. You take control of Captain Olimar who's ship gets hit by a asteroid and takes an unexpected turn onto an unknown planet with many of his ship parts scared all over the planet. You soon discover (what Captain Olimar name's) Pikmin. The first specious of Pikmin are red and are the strongest of the three other Pikmin. This game is a Real-time strategy game in which you use these pikmin to solve puzzles and overall to help you collect the ship parts. Captain Olimar only has 30 days to get his ship back together before his life support gives out and falls victim to the planets toxins. The other two Pikmin types are Yellow (which can pick up bombs to knock down walls and kill enemies) and blue Pikmin (which have the ability to go through water) Overall this game is defiantly unique and can be very challenging at times. The only real draw back is the game is far too short, and the sounds of the Pikmin can getting very annoying at times. For 30 dollars this is a great port of an old game and is defiantly recommended for thous who love strategy and puzzles.
