- "Disappointing"
Neverwinter nights claims to be a dungeons and dragons RPG game, but for the most part really it's an action-adventure hack-and-slash. The plot is very cliched - the people need a hero, and your mysterious self saves them. The gameplay itself really sucks compared to the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale series; this game feels nothing like those games; you can only have a companion with you, like a henchman. If your class is anything but a rogue, you'll have to team up with the thief dude to do anything, because otherwise, you can't open chests. And there are different backstories with all the henchman, so having to play with only the henchman that can do what you can't sucks in my opinion.
And the story really sucks; it doesn't make you care about the characters; they feel really dopey. When you complete a quest, you don't feel good; it's just like, whoopee, I just killed a billion bad guys and I got 200 experience points. Only another 10,000 before I can get to level 4...it's just not fun.
The series transition to 3D is not for the better; if you're looking for Baldurs Gate 3 or Icewind Dale 3, forget it - this game is horrible in comparison - those games are much more fun.
Go try to find a copy of Baldur's Gate 2 Collection or the Icewind Dale Collection - those games are way more worth your time; their stories are way better, more complex, and satisfying to unravel, and choose good or evil, and see how it affects the story.
Spend your money elsewhere is my opinion - I know many people will disagree with me and say this game is the most awesome game ever - but if you've played Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale you'll understand why I feel the way I feel: disappointed.

A game worth buying and not to be missed, Neverwinter Nights is a classic, and every game owner should get it.

NWN was the best PC RPG experience of its time, and the Diamond Edition offers up the full package at a great value.
