The Darkest Faerie: Maybe we were expecting more? Or maybe its just for those serious fans...

User Rating: 6.2 | Neopets: The Darkest Faerie PS2
I have to say, I am a full fledged fanatic of Neopets so you can guess I ran out to Walmart to purchase THe Darkest Faerie the day it came out. Maybe I should have slowed down just a little.

At first the game was enjoyable, especially for Neo fans who can understand the inside jokes. But as the game progressed I soon found it wasn't all to be desired.

The fighting style is very bland, only consisting of a few combos and techniques. Even with the 'motes' it was still boring. Later in the game you have to fight ALOT. I mean every two minutes. It gets very old very fast.

YOu have to travel and back track a lot in the game and although the environment is colorful and nice, there's too much of it. Travelling back and forth got old, not to mention all of the annoying fights.

The music was probably the best and very fitting for the medieval view of the game, although we all know it fails in comparison to Nobou's. THe story was nothing more then any other game and the characters were perdictable.

Alot of the characters and items were familiar to me, which added some positivity to the game. All of the intresting small 'books' you can read in the game were also fun to read and learn about. But for the non-neo fan, they might not make sense or just be boring.

Altogether, as a fan of Neopets, I give this a 6.2 . But I feel this game was made for just us, the fans. If you wern't familiar with Neopets, I suggest buying a different game.
