As good as Neo Geo fighters can get on PS2

User Rating: 6.2 | NeoGeo Battle Coliseum PS2
I recently started investing in Neo Geo ports to the PS2. Ive always been a streetfighter fan and many of these conversions play terribly on the PS2. Nearly all the King of Fighters (except NeoWave) were bad conversions of there Neo Geo console counterpart. This game however, is not one of those.

The same lazy Menus are there from other conversions. But the character sprites look as good as ever. There is also a slight zoom option which makes them look bigger ( always an issue I had with fighting games that dynamic zoom should used). Characters from all aspects of the Geo's life cycle are here which is quite similar to past Capcom games. The characters all control rather well, backgrounds are a huge improvement over past games from SNK. Special moves are easy to get out and combos are quite good too. There are a few problems though. You can slaughter all opponents up until the final boss - and after a few tries you quickly lose interest in finishing the game. The sounds are rubbish but the music is good. The lack of additional features is also a let down. The aforementioned menus are ugly, loading times are unacceptable and the Disc deffinatly needed some sort of additional material to merit its value. But for €30 (what I payed in Ireland) I am quite satisfied.
