"Is this the next gen contra?"
Graphically this contra is a decent. The explosions are not spectacular but decent enough to entertain.The character models suprisingly are not bad and not great either.It's like the developpers chose to do something just average in terms of graphics.The art style has quite bit of variety but can be repetitive after a while.
The gameplay is what makes a contra game Contra.Unlike the many previous version is quite short. The camera angle is the biggest change in this version.The camera tends to be a top view and kinda behind view.There are new moves like rolling and 3 types of guns to choose.The controls are very different and quite bit fustrating sometimes.Basically the AI is just as old as ever and there is a infinite number of enemies meaning they can just come from anywhere.
The sound is basic and the voice acting is ok.
The story is unfinished and is very difficult to get into simply because there is no logic.Although it has some great CGI cutscenes.
Overall Neo is a decent game.Even the contra fans will be disappointed mainly because it's short (2 hours at Max if you are slow).I can't recommend to buy this game not even renting.But if you are a hardestcore of the contra and want it as collector item then you might just get a used one for less than $10 which is quite better than renting it.
