Taking the franchise to a whole new direction.....

User Rating: 8 | Need for Speed: The Run PC
Its true,Need For Speed is one of the biggest gaming franchises of all time, and has won the hearts of many, including me,and maybe that's one of the biggest reasons we keep on coming back to the franchise, despite the several disappointing releases.

After the release of shift,we all thought that the franchise is doomed, but they came back with a decent bang with releases like nitro, world and hot pursuit 3.

Then again they announced that they're going to release Shift 2.Many were puzzled, and worried. But surprising they blew our minds with the level of improvements.

But they didn't stop.Again they thought of going back to the genre of underground racing, and released The Run.

At first glance it would look rather like a game derived from a transporter type movie. Many might think that its a bad idea but they managed to make it work.

As you start the game you'll be welcome with a extremely graphically rich interactive cut scene, which was a nice touch. From there on you begin your "Run".

I wouldn't really call the story line original, but is good enough, and short, and gets you through the game rather satisfied. The cars handle in a rather arcade sort of way than the simulation type of Shift 2,which can be disappointing for few,but makes for a fun gameplay.

The car roster is rather good, but lacks the extensive car customisation aspects of previous versions.

Graphically the game is extraordinary, and combined with the involving and breathtaking gameplay, gets a solid thumbs up.They've managed to actually give you goosebumps while you're racing, amongst avalanches, long straights of nevada & several other breathtaking sceneries.Plus the night racing aspect was a good addition. Disappointingly it lacks the cockpit view, which could've made the game more intense.

Overall The Run is a very good game and you should definitely try it,although it doesn't have any replay value.
