Another disappointing game on the way from EA... Seriously how many failures will it take for them to see that they need to rethink their current formula and return to what made their need for speed series take off in the first place. Seriously I thought prostreet had some mad protential until I played it and found out that there wasn't anything there. Sure the cars were appealing looking but darn it wheres the substance that hotpursuit2 or underground had? Oh well I'll just sit here and wait they will get the clue someday... hopefully 2010

Disregard that part about Valve, I don't know how I messed that up. On the other hand, Fallout 3 did take about 4 years to make (check the interviews) and that rocked.

What EA needs to do is give their guys a lot of time to make this game. That's what makes Valve's games so good, they actually give themselves a good amount of time to make them. Take the first Half-Life, they were originally going for a '96 release, but went all the way to '98.

Tl;dr, EA, GIVE YOUR GUYS SOME TIME!

I dont want to spend hours tuning and modding the cars.. I WANT TO RACE and get away from cops and feel the speed!! For me nfs pro street was the worst nfs ever and it seems nfs shift will be the sequal.. I already know I wont buy this game... There is no fun at all lapping against CPU's cars..Simmulation sucks.. thats it!

I think that there is enough driving simulation games. Need For Speed = underground, illegal races. New NFS:Shift won't find place between GT5 or even Grid. EA shouldn't change style of this game, but as always - they want to get some money..

Hey I still remember NEED FOR SPEED 2 SE remember the Mclaren F1 or the Ferrari F50 and even the "FZR2000" the only Good thing about the Undercover is bringing back the Maclaren F1
So First EA bring back the Ferrari Second the second best Need For Speed was the Porsche Unleashed, that game rocked. It was more realistic than the current ProStreet (which i actually Liked) so the game play of the Porsche unleashed should be brought back of course with a updated engine.
So in My opinion The Best Need For Speed would be a street racing game but with the driving realism of Porsche Unleashed and with all of the Supercars (such as the Ferrari the Maserati the Aston Martin and of course keep the Lamborgini and the Japanese and the American muscles) and some realistic damage (its nice to crash a 1million$ car isn't it).

After All: We Play Video Games To simulate what we can not do in reality. (quote from Joe Chahine, 2006)
    So for need for speed:
Driving Expensive Cars on the Street in an illegal way, but also in a realistic way.
So If EA succeeds in doing this I guess the Perfect racing game would then be Born.

Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed is the only NFS game I've liked. I'm glad that they're returning to a more realistic racing simulator as it looks promising so far. For everyone saying that ProStreet was the first step towards "realistic" racing and it failed so Shift will too, I have two things to say. One, ProStreet was still street racing. It was not anything like a racing sim. I mean, it's called ProSTREET for a reason. Two, EA is making Shift with Slightly Mad Studios. "Slightly Mad Studios was founded earlier this month by former GT Legends developer Ian Bell" (quote from an earlier GameSpot article). While GT Legends may not have been perfect, it was undoubtedly good. GameSpot and users both gave it good scores. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/driving/gtlegends/index.html?tag=result;title;0

I think the problem is that the people following NFS prefer street racing (except for those of us who've been waiting in the background for another nfs:porsche unleashed type of game). I guess I shouldn't be surprised that people are disappointed. I think EA's main mistake was deciding to make 3 NFS games, but not making one of them be an extension of the Underground series. Instead, in addition to Shift, they're making an MMOG and an "Arcade" game for the Wii and DS...

Looks good so far. I'll be looking at the games progression. I like sim racers & if this is the NFS series attempt at it I'll keep a open mind on this one.

They already try something like "legal racing" in Pro Street....at the end that´s the worst game I ever played (and i only lay like 4 races, can´t take it any longer)....this one should be called Pro Street 2 just to warn the NFS Fans: DONT BUY THIS ONE!!

Hope they think again and gives ilegal races, open street, tunning and adrenaline just like they did in Most Wanted
