And why are the damn servers so slow? I wanted to kill 30 minutes by doing a couple of races in NFS, but now I have to wait 63 minutes for the mandatory update to download... what the hell?

Is it because you HAVE to install all the DLC, although you haven't bought it at all? I'm not planning on buying it either, I'm one trophy away from platinum and after that I'm moving over to other games.. So why do I have to install 2 GB???

Its a big patch for all the dlcs and the new map , 1 map 1 GB , 3 packs 15 vehicles 1 GB. that makes it 2GB , Same I also wanted to kill time just now but had to update it . I might consider to buy the dlc though

I feel your pain, TC. My net is downloading the patch at 1% per 5 mins during midnight. I can't leave it on overnight since my PS3 just got fixed from YLOD.

And yes, you do need to have all the DLC even if you're not going to buy it. The reason is that even though you're not going to buy any of it you still need to be able to see the DLC cars if they're being driven by other players online.

Well now I go 200 mph on a freeway and suddenly I crash on a big red X because I didn't buy the DLC... Nice!

Still waiting for proofs... doesn't make any sense for me.

    The Update is all DLC.

    It works simply like this.

Give everyone the content so there only one server/host/play list area. That way people with dlc (or parts of) can play with users who don't buy it. (people with out DLC, need see it, so they need the content.

More players pooled tougther, instead of limited players via match making system.

Other Games like Dark Souls and Blops II do this (thou Blops II is only peacemaker gun and titles, since they use spilt Playlists/Server for new Maps)

Considering Size of DLC, It may be all of it. If anyone Buys Airport DLC, let us know if you download a decent file size. Well see if they added it, even thou you only can see new road and tunnel leading to it.

The Most Wanted Cars (itlest guy in #1 spot) can pass thru Red X's where you crash/bump it. He'll drive back out few seconds later.

I bought all the DLC, and the download was only activation keys. All the content is in the patch.

Thanks for all the responses guys! And it makes perfect sense for me now, the reason why everybody needs to download the DLC. Especially in regards to the cars. I also noticed the 'RAM' chassis and added races for all non-DLC cars, so there is also a little update for non-DLC buyers.

Perhaps the 1GB for the additional map (airfield area) should have not been a mandatory download? But then again, I can understand now why they would just put it all together in one download.

It was still a pain to get it installed though... but hell, I managed to finish Needle Point at 165 mph, so I was very happy at the end of the day. Now I just need to find the last security gate and I have the platinum trophy. Hm, perhaps I will consider buying some of the DLC after all...
