It suffers from "Super Mario Deja vu" It's more like Super Mario 1.1 and can be Ended in a matter of hours.

The only difference in Gameplay is a few new Yoshi and Mario powers. The second player is just reduced to watch his friend play. The prankster comets just making the level a speed run or the dreaded purple coin challenge. While some prankster comets offer up a different challenge, like having to destroy all enemies on screen in a certain time, they still fall flat like most of the challenges which are boring.
The story is the same as all other Mario games and what little voice acting that was found in the first game is all but lost in SMG2
Bottom line it takes 10-15 hours to get to the end. So it's a game that can be beaten in 1 weekend and any game that can be beaten in 1 weekend with no online play should never get a 10/10. It takes a bit longer if you collect all the stars but it doesn't work that way and most people aren't going to do that.
It would make an exceptional expansion for a discounted price but does not have enough new shininess IMO to be worth 49.99$
The difficulty is far too easy,
