Racing around Europe and America at it's best!

User Rating: 9.5 | Need for Speed: Road Challenge PS
The graphics may be lame and dull, but the gameplay is great! Who would ever drive a Lamborghini Diablo SV cop car in a hot pursuit chase with supercars in Dolphin Cove! The player of course, if he/she is good enough to unlock it! For the graphics, I just said it's lame and dull, but the car damage is... cool! In some cases you will see a road accident in the middle of the street you're driving in, the fire effects are pretty lame, they're just a bunch of orange lights laid in the street like a hazard sign formed in a rectangular position, same goes if you (or the opponent cop) lays the dreaded Spike Strip in the middle of the road, there are a bunch of orange lights in the front of the spike strip! For the PC Version, the car bursts into flames if thrown at a long rate in an accident, the flames look better in the PC Version and so does the damage, very realistic for a 1999 game! The gameplay is great because of the events you can go to (sadly, until now, I haven't completed them all, I barely finished the half of it!) and not to mention Hot Pursuit! The cars look realistic in the showroom part, but not at the race. Say for example, the Chevrolet Corvette, the rims look as it was in the real life in the showroom, but in the race, you'll be seeing a flat 5 spoked wheel with a huge hub cap! So does the Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am (T/A is shown in the game), looks good in the showroom, a flat 5 spoked blue wheel is what you'll see! But it's quite similar to the real one. The upgrades are kind of lame in some cases, such as in the BMW M5; Your car gets lowered. Then, get decals (usually stripes). And finally, some really nice body kit. The Bimmer or Beemer (slang for BMW) M5 & Z3, Ferrari 550 Maranello, and Lamborghini Diablo SV have lame bodykits the best ones are in the Chevy Corvette and Camaro, Mercedes-Benz SLK, and maybe the Ferrari F50. Overall, I give it a 9.5; 8 for its gameplay, 1 for its cool cars, and .5 for its realism thing... whatever. The missing .5? Graphics!
