Look, it's NCAA March Madness 2005, no, 6, err...crap.

Apparently, EA Sports didn't get the memo that "change is good". For all the good EA Sports has done with its football series on the college front, you'd think they'd at least TRY with the basketball. I mean, give us at least ONE really good game we can sink our teeth into. Now I went out a few days ago and picked up March Madness 08, really excited about some of the changes I read about. I had hope that they finally got the message, finally got a clue about making changes and all that progressive forward thinking other makers have done. Again, I guess this got lost in the shuffle or with the influx of next-gen consoles, they're all but forcing the hand of those still stuck in the video game stone ages to join the revolution or just swallow the mediocrity you're handed.

This game is an EXACT REPLICA of 2006. Same game, same name, different face on the cover. If you're looking for anything new on this game, do yourself a favor. Go back and read whatever was or has been written about 2006. It's the cliff notes version to prepare you for what's to come in 2007. I'm seriously disappointed in EA Sports for not even bothering to try with this series, even moreso when you consider the potential that's there with college basketball being such a mega big time deal and such. It's shameful almost to a point when you think about this and considering the improvements that 2K's made with College Hoops to basically blow it out of the water. At least now I'm seeing why EA dropped the price on this particular game. To expect $40 something dollars out of someone for this would be straight up criminal.

So really, there's nothing new to write here so I'm going to wrap this up like so. If you're a mark for EA Sports (as I am) and just feel like going with the ole tried and true, through and through, give it a shot. Me? I'm going to give College Hoops 2K8.

(Note, I know I typed in 2007 in certain spots, they're not typos. That's how utterly disdained I am with this series and how craptastic it has become.)
