Very nice EA!

User Rating: 8 | NBA Live 2005 PS2
NBA live 2005 is a better game then GameSpot has given it (7.9). It is also a better game then an 8.2 reader's score, period… no questions asked. The All-Star festivities is the first thing that comes to mind for any Live 2005 player, most notably the Slam-Dunk competition. The dunk contest is done very nicely and includes some dunks that are just simply outrageously amazing. But I personally believe that the slam dunk contest could be more realistic. Some of the dunks go over the line and just make the game too ‘arcady’ if you know what I mean. This takes a lot of realism away from the game when guys are kicking it with their foot off the back screens of the arena, flipping, catching and putting their arms in the rim. Everyone knows it can’t happen in real life. The rest of the all-star weekend festivities are the regular that we see every season. The 3-point competition is good, but like GameSpot said, you really just find yourself pressing 2 buttons after a while. But the 3 ball contest also needs you as the player to be in rhythm, because the point that you release the ball will determine if it goes SPLASH! Or a brick, and the other alternative is that you hit nothing but air. The Dynasty Mode’s biggest change this year from last year is the PDA. It’s your personal Palm that gives you everything. Remember last year when you spend your dynasty points on dynasty extras, you get a little clip where some guy comes in and trains your team? Well those little clips are gone now. This year, it allows you to scout during the season instead. As you scout players on either Offense, Defense and Condition, you will have to spend 50 DP (dynasty points). So you play good in your games, you get more chances to scout more players. This year’s simulation has also changed; it has allowed you to intervene your games. This means that if you simulate a game and your team is down by 20 at the half, you can go in there and try to make the miracle comeback. There is also a new Power Rankings in Dynasty Mode; this is a ranking that is updated every week. It allows the player to see how their team stacks up against the other elite teams in the NBA. The off-season has changed, it is now a 2-3 month schedule, which starts with rookie scouting. This is where you can play your scouted prospects 1-on-1 with one of the players on your current roster. The computer, not you, determines the player that plays the prospect unfortunately. Then it goes to the lottery and then the draft. Realism is added into the Dynasty Mode this year with the help of the PDA. When signing players in the off-season or during the season, they will not say yes or no right away anymore. This year, it has given the players a chance to look at other deals from other teams. The player’s agent will reply to you via PDA after a couple days within the offer. Either he says it’s good, or it’s bad. There’s no more let’s go right away thing anymore. What really disappoints me this year is that there is no EA Sports profile in it. Your profile will not have the title NBA Live 2005 and you don’t get your level hours as you play. This is very disappointing. In contrast, you must save your settings to save the trophies you’ve won, the jerseys you’ve unlocked and the dynasty points you have left. I don’t like this, but I guess it works In conclusion, I believe that EA Sports has made another great NBA Live game. This is a great game and it deserves to be treated with the respect that it deserves!
