Fast-paced fun in a basketball game.

The key factor is the brand new Dynasty Mode. In contrast to season mode, which remains, Dynasty mode gives you the option of playing over consecutive seasons and moulding a team around existing superstars or draft picks that you select.
Also new to the series is the option of all-star weekend, which lets you play the slam dunk contest amongst others which tests both skill and technique.
The graphics are average for the time the game was released, but gives the game a fairly decent look about it. The character models are probably the most detailed things in the game, with the only consistent glitch being when a player gets injured his shorts kind of... flash.
The commentary comes from legendary TNT announcer Marv Albert as well as side-rick of the time Mike "The Tzar" Fratello. This is repetitive, but keeps a fluid feel to the gameplay. A raft of player specific comments help bring some variation to the otherwise predictable commentary. TNT colleagues Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith take over for the all start weekend modes.
The multiplayer of the game is solid, with numerous, if glitchy online modes.
The local play, however, is competitive and works well to get you and your friends playing for hours.
A good overall game - beats NBA 2K5, balls down.
